Christmas Preparations

Advent is drawing to a close and Christmas is nearly here. We have been preparing the house for Christmas Day. The indoors is decorated, and we have a few decorations outdoors - Christmas lights on the porch and a wreath on the door. With darkness falling around 4:30, we don't have to stay up late to enjoy the Christmas lights!

We connected with several family and friends this month -  a lunch date, a dinner date, movie nights, a coffee date, brunch dates at the house, and even a wedding! Taking time to connect and celebrate with loved ones helps make this month even more special. It also helps ease the sadness of missing those we love.

Preparation at our house includes Christmas baking. In the past, we made numerous kinds of cookies and candies well ahead of time - sugar cookies, teacakes, cookie logs, peanut butter balls, chocolate fudge, white chocolate fudge, butterscotch fudge, molasses crinkles, and more. This year, since all our children are adults and our two grandchildren are too small to enjoy sweets yet, we will choose just two or three of our favorites to make for our Christmas gathering.

Peanut butter balls were the first on the list and we finished those late last week. We made a double batch and ended up with 71 rather large cookies. Teacakes will be next on the list. We may do some truffles as well so we have one more gluten-free option.

We want to wish you all a very merry Christmas. May you experience the peace and joy of the season.

Merry Christmas!
